Foooood

I love my food but probably about a month or two ago i noticed that i was eating really quite badly, on junky type foods and foods with completely empty calories like pies, 2 minute noodles, donuts, cake, as well as things like chips and chocolate at least twice a week when i would catch up with friends. on top of this we would go on a "macca's run" after going out like once every week or so.

Soooo i decided that i'd change my diet while it's still quite early so i'm not shocked when summer rolls around. I started off with a three day "beginners cleanse" about three and a half weeks ago which i found on http://life.gaiam.com/article/3-day-clean-food-detox-plan . I then got really into it and started searching for healthy diet ideas and came across quite a few good sites as well as people on youtube. So three weeks in i've been religiously writing down everything i eat into a weekly food planner which i do every sunday night for the week (starting monday).

Eating healthy is slightly more expensive but i think it's so worth it. I've tried to cut out all dairy so instead i use rice/soy/almond milk and i still have yogurt but only natural greek yogurt. I've also cut out bread (still have wholemeal wraps 3 times a week though). I've noticed a difference even in the way my body is taking in the food.

An example of what i would eat daily would go like this:

Breakfast: Natural rolled oats cooked, and add a banana or some blueberries as well as 2 table spoons of walnuts

Mid-morning snack: A fruit

Lunch: A salad with baby spinach, tomato and atleast 2 vegies in it dressed with lemon juice, sea salt and pepper or a whole meal wrap with baby spinach, tomato and atleast 2 veggies

Afternoon snack: Smoothie - with the following ingredients mixed and match: rolled oats, flax seeds, a fruit(banana or mixed berries), baby spinach, cinnamon, rice milk or water and greek yogurt. - I have this in my awesome new cup/container thingo that i put it in (i'll post a pic at the end)

Dinner: Turkey burger with veggies, tuna patties etc (unfortunately i can't control what we eat for dinner because i live at home still so i've still been having pasta for dinner when makes it)

I'm obviously not an expert on nutrition or health but i've taken a real interest in staying healthy and now hopefully getting into an exercise routine too!!

Hope that wasn't too boring!!!
